Review Showcases
Review Showcases is the name of the former Review Widgets area. A Showcase is the collection of reviews and display settings you configure. Share it as a hosted Page, place it on another website as an Embed, or use both.
Choose Simple, Cloud, or Guestbook. All three use the same content selection and display controls, and support an optional button that starts a Review Flow.
Before You Start
Section titled “Before You Start”- To display entries, have feedback collected through FSRevs that you have chosen to make Public. Showcases do not import reviews from Google or other review platforms. You can prepare an automatic showcase before its first review arrives.
- Confirm you have permission to publish the customer’s text, name, and any photos you plan to display. Manage public visibility from Flow Activity or the Manager Feedback Report.
- Have access to create or edit Review Showcases. Creating a shareable Page also requires permission to create or edit its Smart Link.
- For an embed, have access to edit the destination website and use a block that accepts JavaScript. A normal text field may display or remove the script instead of running it.
For a first showcase, keep Automatic selection and choose the Included Review Flows you intend to display. New showcases default to Only selected review flows. Choose All review flows explicitly if that is what you want, then preview the content before sharing.
Share a Showcase Page
Section titled “Share a Showcase Page”- Open Content Management > Review Showcases and select New Showcase, or open an existing showcase.
- Set its name, review selection, and layout. Keep Showcase Enabled on when it should be available to visitors.
- Open Page & QR. In Smart Link (Optional), enter a Public Page Address after the displayed domain prefix and turn on Link Enabled.
- Check Page appearance and availability for the branding scope and any availability warning. Use Preview Page to inspect your unsaved settings.
- Save once to save the showcase and its Smart Link together.
- Use Copy link to share the short address or Get QR Code to open the existing QR design and download screen.
Share the Smart Link shown here in website links, signs, and QR codes. You can later change its destination without replacing the shared address. Changing the address itself breaks links and printed codes that use the old address.
An enabled showcase can also be added as a Showcase Page destination from Smart Links. The first working connection makes the page available; there is no separate page-enable switch. You do not need a Smart Link to use an embed.
Page Availability
Section titled “Page Availability”A Showcase Page stays available while your workspace and showcase are eligible for publication and at least one connected Smart Link is enabled, unexpired, and not in Trash. Disabling, removing, or redirecting the last working connection makes the page unavailable, including through a bookmarked final page address. Another working connection keeps it available. Restoring a working connection restores page access when the showcase is still enabled.
The Page & QR section manages the oldest connected Smart Link you can access. Disabled or expired links remain visible so you can diagnose them. Manage expiration, additional destinations, and other connected links in Smart Links. If someone changes the connection while your form is open, refresh the link fields before saving.
Page Appearance and Search
Section titled “Page Appearance and Search”The page uses your existing Branding. A showcase restricted to one location by its filters, included flows, or curated entries uses that location’s branding. Mixed, unrestricted, or unavailable location scope uses global branding. Page & QR explains the selected scope.
Showcase Pages always request exclusion from search indexing and are omitted from public sitemaps. This cannot be switched off. They are publicly accessible by URL, so exclusion from search does not make the content private. AI tools may read a shared URL, but discovery or citation is not guaranteed. Use the separate Public Pages on BestLocalReviews.com for your business’s search-facing presence.
Saved showcase, review, and branding changes normally appear on the next page refresh. An already-open page does not update live.
Install an Embed
Section titled “Install an Embed”- Go to Content Management > Review Showcases.
- Create or open a showcase and configure Setup, Content, Appearance, and Behavior.
- Select Preview Embed to inspect the current settings, including unsaved changes.
- Save the showcase. Its installation script becomes available after the first save.
- Open Embed & Install, copy the Embed Code, and paste it into the website’s HTML or custom-code block where the reviews should appear.
- Save or publish the website page, then check the live page at desktop and mobile widths. Test Read more and pagination if enabled.
<script defer src="https://YOUR-FSREVS-DOMAIN/widgets/TENANT_ID/WIDGET_ID/embed.js"></script>The values above are placeholders. Copy the complete script from your showcase instead of assembling its address or using the portal’s edit-page URL. Existing installed snippets continue to work after the rename to Review Showcases.
The widget automatically fills the width of its containing block and manages its own height. Do not set a fixed iframe height, and do not install separate desktop and mobile snippets. A normal block, column, or page-builder HTML component is enough.
Control Placement and Width
Section titled “Control Placement and Width”The generated iframe has the stable class .fs-reviews-widget-frame. Use it for optional exterior spacing or sizing:
/* Add space above and below the widget */.fs-reviews-widget-frame { margin-block: 24px;}/* Limit the widget width and center it */.fs-reviews-widget-frame { display: block; width: 100%; max-width: 1100px; margin-inline: auto;}/* Round the exterior frame */.fs-reviews-widget-frame { border-radius: 16px;}You can also constrain the widget with an ordinary wrapper. The widget always responds to the resulting container width; customers never maintain its height.
Exterior and Interior Styling
Section titled “Exterior and Interior Styling”Normal website CSS can style the iframe exterior and its surrounding layout through .fs-reviews-widget-frame. Because the reviews live inside an iframe, interior changes use the opt-in marked-CSS mechanism below.
Custom styling is optional. Simple, Cloud, and Guestbook are complete layouts without overrides. These host-website CSS examples apply to embeds, not the hosted Page.
Raw Widget CSS
Section titled “Raw Widget CSS”Add data-fs-reviews-css and media="not all" to a style block on the host website. The marker keeps the CSS from affecting the host page and lets the widget loader deliver it only to review-widget frames.
<style media="not all" data-fs-reviews-css> [data-fs-reviews-root] { --fs-reviews-accent-color: #315b73; --fs-reviews-border-radius: 18px; --fs-reviews-surface-color: #fffdf8; }</style>Linked Widget CSS
Section titled “Linked Widget CSS”The same marker works with a public HTTPS stylesheet maintained on your website:
<link rel="stylesheet" media="not all" data-fs-reviews-css href="https://example.com/review-widget.css"/>To apply marked CSS to only one widget on a page, add its public widget UUID:
<style media="not all" data-fs-reviews-css data-fs-reviews-widget-id="WIDGET_ID"> [data-fs-reviews-root] { --fs-reviews-accent-color: #8a4b32; }</style>Marked styling transports CSS only. It does not transport HTML or JavaScript, and it does not require a custom domain, an allowed-domain list, or theme-specific installation code.
Supported Styling Tokens
Section titled “Supported Styling Tokens”Set these CSS custom properties on [data-fs-reviews-root]. They have the same purpose across the built-in layouts; each layout supplies its own appearance defaults.
| Token | Purpose |
|---|---|
--fs-reviews-font-family |
Metadata and control font stack |
--fs-reviews-review-font-family |
Review-body font stack |
--fs-reviews-text-color |
Primary text color |
--fs-reviews-muted-color |
Supporting text color |
--fs-reviews-accent-color |
Links, controls, and focus accent |
--fs-reviews-rating-color |
Rating stars and indicators |
--fs-reviews-canvas-background |
Outer canvas color or gradient |
--fs-reviews-surface-color |
Review-card surface |
--fs-reviews-reply-surface-color |
Team-reply surface |
--fs-reviews-border-color |
Card and control borders |
--fs-reviews-border-radius |
Review-card corner radius |
--fs-reviews-card-gap |
Space between reviews |
--fs-reviews-card-padding |
Space inside each review |
--fs-reviews-shadow |
Review-card shadow |
For example, change typography and surfaces without depending on a particular theme’s markup:
<style media="not all" data-fs-reviews-css> [data-fs-reviews-root] { --fs-reviews-font-family: ui-sans-serif, system-ui, sans-serif; --fs-reviews-review-font-family: Georgia, serif; --fs-reviews-canvas-background: #f3f6f7; --fs-reviews-surface-color: #ffffff; --fs-reviews-reply-surface-color: #eaf1f2; }</style>Supported Semantic Hooks
Section titled “Supported Semantic Hooks”Use these stable hooks for advanced CSS that needs more precision:
[data-fs-reviews-root][data-fs-reviews-list][data-fs-reviews-review][data-fs-reviews-rating][data-fs-reviews-date][data-fs-reviews-body][data-fs-reviews-read-more][data-fs-reviews-author][data-fs-reviews-avatar][data-fs-reviews-tagline][data-fs-reviews-reply][data-fs-reviews-photos][data-fs-reviews-photo][data-fs-reviews-pagination][data-fs-reviews-empty]Internal utility classes, nested wrappers, and undocumented markup are implementation details and may change. Use the stable iframe class, semantic hooks, and styling tokens instead.
Layout Options
Section titled “Layout Options”All layouts support automatic or curated review selection, location and review-flow filters, employee filtering, rating display, dates, reviewer photos and testimonial details, additional photos, public team replies, expandable review text, and simple or numbered pagination.
- Simple presents reviews as a refined single-column editorial stack.
- Cloud uses a responsive one-, two-, or three-column gallery based on the available embed width.
- Guestbook uses a narrower reading column, serif entry text, and a signature below each entry. Team replies appear separately beneath the entry.
Switching layouts preserves your saved display choices. The same installation snippet works for every layout.
For every selection, appearance, pagination, preview, and enabled-state option, see Showcase Settings.
Let Visitors Leave Feedback
Section titled “Let Visitors Leave Feedback”In Behavior > “Leave Feedback” button, turn on Show a Leave Feedback button and choose Review flow to start. This is off by default. When enabled, an invitation block appears beneath the reviews in both the Page and Embed. The flow must be available and compatible with the showcase’s content selection.
Leave Button text and Invitation text blank to use the layout defaults shown as placeholders, or enter your own plain text. For the defaults and selection rules, see the button settings.
The selected Review Flow collects the response and controls completion. A new response still follows normal moderation and display filters; it is not automatically published by clicking this button. Curated showcases require you to add the new public review manually.
Opening a normal feedback form does not itself create a response or new flow step in the customer’s Journey. Attribution is recorded when the visitor first takes a valid action that saves a response. See showcase entries in Customer Journeys for the existing Smart Link and automatic-forwarding exceptions.
The button needs JavaScript. In an embed it opens a new tab; on a hosted Page it stays in the current tab.
Disable a Showcase
Section titled “Disable a Showcase”Turn off Showcase Enabled and save when you need to stop showing the showcase temporarily. The embed collapses safely without requiring you to remove its script, and its Page becomes unavailable. Re-enable and save when it is ready to return; the Page also needs a working Smart Link connection.
The directory shows Enabled, Disabled, or Trashed, with Page available or Page unavailable beneath it. Neither status confirms that an embed is installed on another website. Use the row’s action menu for Preview Embed or Embed & Install.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”The showcase is empty in the FSRevs preview
Section titled “The showcase is empty in the FSRevs preview”Check Showcase Enabled, public review visibility, selection settings, and Minimum Review Length. With Only selected review flows, choose an included flow. In Curated Selection, add at least one available public review. See Showcase Settings.
The preview works but the website shows nothing
Section titled “The preview works but the website shows nothing”Confirm that you saved the widget, copied its complete installation script, and published the website page. Check that the website editor accepts JavaScript in that block. If the script is removed or blocked, ask the person managing the website to allow the FSRevs embed.
The showcase shows older settings
Section titled “The showcase shows older settings”Form previews can include unsaved changes. Save in FSRevs, reload the page or website, and check any caching provided by the website platform for an embed.
The Page is unavailable but the embed works
Section titled “The Page is unavailable but the embed works”Check Page & QR and the connected Smart Links. The Page needs at least one working Smart Link connection; the embed does not. A disabled or expired link shown in the form may not be the only connection, so also check the other configured links.
The feedback button disappeared
Section titled “The feedback button disappeared”Check that the button is enabled and its Review Flow remains available and included by the showcase’s selection rules. Changing sources can clear an incompatible selection and turn the button off. If a previously selected flow becomes unavailable, the saved choice remains visible for you to review while the public button is hidden.
The feedback button shows “Too Many Attempts”
Section titled “The feedback button shows “Too Many Attempts””Repeatedly opening the feedback Flow can trigger a temporary safety limit. Pause briefly, then try the button once more. See temporary attempt limits if the message persists during normal customer use.
My website CSS changes the frame but not the reviews
Section titled “My website CSS changes the frame but not the reviews”Use the marked CSS examples under Exterior and Interior Styling. For a single widget, confirm that data-fs-reviews-widget-id contains that widget’s public ID.
Only some reviews or photos appear
Section titled “Only some reviews or photos appear”Check the number of reviews to show, pagination, public visibility, and content filters. A photo or reply must be present on the source review and enabled in the widget’s appearance settings.
