Understanding Locations
What This Is
Section titled “What This Is”Each location represents a branch or service area within your FSRevs workspace. If you have a North District office and a South District office, give each its own location so customer experiences and results use the right business details.
This allows each branch to operate independently where needed: the North office could focus on Google Reviews while the South office puts more emphasis on growing its presence and feedback on Facebook.
Why It Matters
Section titled “Why It Matters”Even a business with one location should check its business name, contact details, and timezone. Some resources can remain Global, so a single-location account can still show a distinction between global and location-specific activity.
If your business has multiple locations, locations become critical because they determine:
- Which review sites customers see
- Which branding (logo, colors) appears on customer-facing pages
- Which team members can access and manage data
- How flow activity and form responses are filtered and reported
- Which notification settings apply
Key Concepts
Section titled “Key Concepts”Your Home Base (Primary Location)
Section titled “Your Home Base (Primary Location)”Every account has a Primary Location — think of this as your Home Base. It acts as the default anchor for your settings and is the first thing created when you sign up.
The primary location:
- Cannot be deleted
- Supplies default business details where a feature needs a fallback location
- Is marked with a visual indicator in the locations list
An authorized workspace manager can change which location is primary when another location is available. Primary does not mean Global: global resources and global response context are separate from the primary location.
Location Identifier
Section titled “Location Identifier”Each location has a short location identifier — a human-readable label like “Downtown” or “West Campus” that appears throughout the portal to help you, your team and your customers quickly identify which location you’re looking at.
An address can prefill the identifier during setup. Confirm the saved label yourself, especially for a service-area business without a street address. It is required and must be unique within the workspace.
Global vs. Location-Specific
Section titled “Global vs. Location-Specific”Many features in FSRevs support two scopes:
- Global / All Locations — Available across locations, subject to the resource’s settings and the user’s access
- Location-specific — Associated with one location
This pattern appears in:
- Branding (logo, colors)
- Review flows
- Custom forms
- Review sites / links
- Smart links
- Simple pages
- Public page settings
Branding and Public Page Settings support field-by-field inheritance: a saved local value can replace a global default. Flows, Forms, Smart Links, and Simple Pages use scope to determine availability; creating a local resource does not overwrite an existing global resource. See Location-Level Overrides for the distinction and examples.
Location Data
Section titled “Location Data”Each location stores:
- Name — The business name for this location
- Address — Street address when appropriate; optional for a service-area business
- Phone — Location phone number
- Timezone — Used for notification timing, report dates, and displayed timestamps
- Location identifier — Short label used to identify a location
Timezone Importance
Section titled “Timezone Importance”Location timezone provides local context for activity logs and location-based reporting. Your own Account Settings also has a timezone used on user-facing screens. Check the timezone shown on the screen when comparing dates between reports, exports, and logs.
A workspace Task or Reminder due date is for organizing work; it does not schedule an automatic notification. See Tasks, Issues & Reminders.
Check the Location Before Sharing
Section titled “Check the Location Before Sharing”For each branch, open the customer link and confirm the business details, branding, and review destination. A global Flow can be reused across branches, but each customer’s location context still needs to be correct. Review Smart Link configurations when you want a reusable link that carries a specific location.
